Week 2

We stayed at lijia’s place overnight 2 nights ago (18th) and have done quite a bit of work. We discussed about whether we should have our lights in a circle, (with the lights trailing round and round like a wheel) or a straight line. After much discussion, we finalized on using it as a straight line because 6 LEDs weren’t enough for form a nice enough circle and our intention was to make a designer light, not a warning light. It was meant to be more decorative + serves another purpose, than distracting.

We shopped quite a bit, heading down to art friend and spotlight over the 2 days trying to look for semi-transparent materials that are suitable to diffuse the light from the LEDs. We also went to ikea  to look at how many lamps use the same type of crumply tracing paper, or semi-opague acrylic to shield off the light.

In the end, we finalized that we needed to find a material that would allow the top 3 lights in our storyboard to flicker, and it has to be able to show the upward motion. Without the visibility of that
there would be no point in doing a script where the red lights flash from bottom to up.

At Lijia’s place Shah also painted a door just to test out the colours and the wood material. It seemed
like we bought an unsuitable material (we replaced it later for a tougher, thicker piece of wood.) Naz worked on the website layout and for Keith, the interface layout.
